The Minister of Environment, Water and Climate, Honourable O. C. Z. Muchinguri - Kashiri donated mining equipment to New Generation Mining project in Ingwizi, Mangwe District, Matebeleland South province. Environmental Management Agency pioneered the livelihood projects in 2013 in response to the rampant illegal gold mining taking place. Working with the Local leadership, Local Institutions and the communities the Agency brought normalcy to the area and other traditional livelihood options were revived. The Community Based Planning (CPB) approach saw the development of Village Action Plans (VEAPs) which gave birth to projects such as New Generation Mining cooperative, livestock management under Romney Grazing scheme and the small grain project which are all being supported by the Agency. The New generation mining cooperative project has been supported by the Agency since 2012 through awareness raising, registration of the mining cooperative, technical capacitation and mining equipment through a loan
