The Environmental management Agency (EMA) in partnership with the Institute of Water and Sanitation as well as the Zimbabwe Earthworm Farms launched an earthworm powered technology for treating sewer at household level in Beitbridge, Matebeleland South Province. The green technology treats and recycles gray and black water using earthworm biotechnology at source for nine households at Old Dulibadzimu suburb who were not connected to the existing sewer line. EMA injected $10 000 into the project while Beitbridge co-sponsored the technology to the tune of $2 700. Such environmentally friendly initiatives should be adopted by all local authorities.
