The 2018 World Wetlands Day was commemorated on the 2nd of February under the theme “Wetlands for a Sustainable Future” at Driefontein wetland in Chirumanzu District in the Midlands Province and attended by 1 300 stakeholders. The wetland is a Ramsar recognized site. The guest of honour was the First Lady of the Republic of Zimbabwe Amai A. Mnangangwa, who was represented by the Minister for Environment, Water, and Climate Honourable O.C.Z Muchinguri. In her speech she highlighted the importance of wetlands and the need for all stakeholders to join hands and protect them.
